Lainey Wilson on the Cover of Country Music Magazine 1975

What If... Lainey Wilson had started touring in the 1970s?  Here is my version of Lainey Wilson featured in the April 1975 issue of Country Music magazine including my imagined article highlight below:

Lainey Wilson Bursts onto 1970s Country Music Scene

Emerging country star Lainey Wilson has taken the music world by storm since the release of her debut album "Sayin' What I'm Thinkin'" in 1975. The Louisiana native first grabbed attention when she performed duets with country legends Kenny Rogers and Ronnie Milsap earlier that year.

Wilson's unique vocal style, which she calls "bell bottom country," combines traditional country storytelling with a touch of Southern grit and rock-influenced phrasing. It has resonated strongly with country fans eager for a fresh new voice. Heartache ballads like "Hold My Halo" and the feisty "WWDD" (short for "What Would Dolly Do") showcase Wilson's songwriting talent and range.

The 23-year-old ingénue has not only impressed audiences with her vocal prowess but also with her outgoing personality and style. Clad in bell bottoms and her trademark fringe jacket, Wilson has brought a youthful spirit of fun to the Nashville scene that some critics claim has gone missing in recent years.

Wilson credits fellow Louisiana natives Kenny Rogers and Ronnie Milsap for inspiring her musical journey. "Singing with those who I believe will be considered Country royalty in the years to come, made me believe I really could make my mark also," she said recently after appearing onstage with the pair at the Grand Ole Opry. Wilson co-wrote both hit duets from her album, "Louisiana Love Song" with Rogers and "Sweet Southern Nights" with Milsap.

With breakout singles racing up the charts and industry buzz building, Lainey Wilson appears poised to give ol' boys club of 1970s country music a run for its money. As Wilson says, "I'm just getting started, y'all." Fans eagerly await what this sparkling new star will deliver next!
