Trying to understand. Hulk is thinking. Please. Hulk not understand. Hulk not understand what you mean...

Passing on some of my Sunday morning boredom workout before getting around to feeding the dogs.  I took a few sample panels from The Immortal Hulk #50, and mixed in some other dialogue, altered the layout, and slapped in some new background layer textures.    Hulk confused?  He sure is!     Thanks to Bennett, José, and Brabo providing the source panels I could extract and abuse with some Affinity Photo leg work on my end.

Hulk not understand.

Girl Crush - 2023 week 7 - Angie Dickinson

Well, lookie what I found during some casual reading of Chilean adult humor comic magazines from 1964. Here we see a fairly young Angie 'Smoking Hot' Dickinson doing some casual magazine catalog work in 1964, but I seriously doubt it was directly for the El Pingüino humor magazine, they probably licensed it.

The Joker Behind Bars

I took the artwork from DC Comics Batman issue #128 (2022) and edited Leonardo Romero's final panel into my own version isolating the frame only to The Joker looking out from his Arkham Asylum cell.

Catwoman Wants a Piece of Batman

Catwoman (Selina Kyle) wants a piece of Batman (Bruce Wayne), and Batman is likely to return the favor provided no one interrupts their rooftop rendevous. I've adjusted both the dialog and some of Niko Leon's artwork from this panel taken from DC Comics' Catwoman issue #49 (January 2023).

Catwoman: "... I want you."
Batman: "You're always welcome to want me, Cat."

Ancient Currency (ISO) Codes

Looking for historical ISO currency codes that no longer exist or appear to be barely documented anywhere online?  Here are a few obscure examples such as:

  • Mexican Currency
    • The Mexican Peso is decimalized into centavos and used from 1897 to 1992-1231 as currency code MXP.
    • From 1993 to the present the ISO currency code is now MXN.
  • Chilean Currency
    • Spanish Escudo used from 1818-0112 to 1851-0109 was XESE.
    • Chilean Peso/Conder used from 1851 to 1959 was CLC.
    • Chilean Peso/Conder used from 1960 to 1975-0929 was CLE.
    • Chilean Peso in use from 1975-0929 to the present is the CLP.
  • The Pennsylvania Proclamation Dollar used by the colony in 1709 was CPAP.
  • The Danish Gold Krone of Account used from 1618-1713 on the Faeroe Islands was DKG.
  • The British West Indies Dollar used by the British Virgin Islands (Leeward Islands) in 1935-1959 was XBWD.

Wikipedia usually is your source of ISO currency codes, but a lot of this legacy data has disappeared from the web, and possibly can only be found on The Wayback Machine (archive.org) but only if you luck out in a search query. The Global Financial Data website used to host a spreadsheet which from all my hunting and pecking appears to be the best resource, now virtually invisible on the internet but you can find it via the Wayback at GHC Histories (downloadable spreadsheet).

Now I am not claiming the GHC reference document is the definitive answer but so far, the only place I could find out anything concrete about the CLC in Chile because everything else I searched only mentioned what happened after 1959, listing no ISO codes before that time.

NordVPN + Windows Subsystems for Linux starts with: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.

Is your Windows Subsystems for Linux suddenly starting with the error message: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket?

I have tried a few workarounds, but this problem still persists for me after I reboot.  I've found the cheapest solution is to pause NordVPN's connection for a minute, start the WSL shell, and then activate your VPN tunnel again.    Maybe when I'm really bored I  will really dig into fixing this permanently, but it is just a minor nuisance at this point.
