Like humor mixed with some science fiction? I suggest you read
All Systems Red by Martha Wells which is a novella featuring a Security Robot who decides to go his own way and do his own things during a mission on a remote planet. Humans may have been his original programmers but those rules do not necessarily apply for his decision tree now. This is a great introduction story and even though a short read does come to a solid conclusion (no cliffhangers), and at least three more follow-up books are already planned.
